At their August 15th meeting, the Sandy Springs City Council voted unanimously to approve their comprehensive plan and development code update. The affordable housing mandate discussed in recent weeks was removed. With some noticeable changes from the last public meeting, a very long and arduous process has come to an end.
In front of a packed room, the Mayor and Council thanked all parties involved in the development of their “Next 10” plan, which is an update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Development Code. Each member also discussed why certain changes were made to the previous drafts and how they will continue to work with interested parties to enhance the approved plan. Mayor Rusty Paul announced the creation of an “Affordable Housing Task Force” to look at workforce housing in Sandy Springs.
The Atlanta REALTORS Association’s Government Affairs Committee and staff followed this process closely over the past 2+ years and worked closely with other Real Estate associations to offer input to the Mayor and Council to achieve the best possible outcome. Mary Beth Lake & Associates is a proud member of the Atlanta REALTORS Association's Government Affairs Committee. It is through work such as this, the power of the REALTOR Association is felt at the local level.
