REALTOR® vs Real Estate Agent

Should I hire a REALTOR®, or a Real Estate Agent? In layman’s terms, “Real Estate Agent” and “REALTOR®” are used interchangeably.  However, in Georgia, there's a big difference.  A real estate agent has obtained a license from the Georgia Real Estate Commission by passing the required educational and testing requirements. REALTORS® are real estate agents who ALSO subscribe to a strict Code of Ethics and Professional Standards and are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge, as it relates to the process of buying and selling real estate.  REALTORS® are committed to serving all parties of each transaction honestly, as experts on real estate subject matter, to help resolve unforeseen issues while moving the transaction towards settlement.
